I woke up feeling soooo nervous today! I’m taking part in the Global Talent Seach - an event that’s put on by one of the best agents, Lilla Rogers. And today is the day that I and the 998 other contestants find out if we have made it into the top 5%, it’s such a buzz! There are two more rounds, and 50 people will be announced today for the semi-final. The grand prize is representation for 2 years by Lilla Rogers Studio, but of course taking part is what counts because you get to work on some incredible briefs and possibly get some good exposure on the way.
I loved the first round for which we were asked to create a piece of wall art for adults or kids with the theme ‘Little Terrarium’. Luckily I knew immediately what I wanted to create. I had so much fun creating a little world inside a lightbulb, that cute little woodland animals had found and claimed for their home. Here is the initial sketch and the finished piece as it was submitted.
I tried to make the colour scheme nice and soft, and not too gender specific. We also had to include at least one word in some way, so I chose ‘Happiness is homemade’ as I really felt this encapsulated what I wanted to express with my art: That happiness can be found anywhere, and that it is in your power to create it. I think it’s a nice sentiment to hang in your home or on your child’s bedroom wall.
I would be lying to say I’m not fussed about getting into the semifinal, it’s such a great opportunity - plus I’m dying to find out what the next project is! I also can’t wait to see what everyone else has created, ooooh the excitement... wish me luck!
